Continental School c.1620 A gentleman, head and shoulders, aged 37 in 1620; verso: Saint Carlo Borromeo (1538-84), head and shoulders in profile The portrait inscribed with the age of the sitter and dated 1620 On copper, both sides in painted ovals, in a double sided frame with stand 9 x 7cm Borromeo was beatified in 1602 and canonised in 1610. This portrait is similar to the portrait of him by Giovanni Ambrogio Figio (1548-1608)
