An English porcelain blue scale scallop edged plate c.1770-80, perhaps Bow, painted in the manner of the Giles atelier with large birds and scattered insects in panels on a scaled ground, 20.5cm. Cf. Gerald Coke, In Search of James Giles, p.216 for a Bow plate in the V&A decorated with this version of the Lady Mary Wortley Montagu pattern.
