A RARE CHINESE GOLD 'RUYI' HAIRPIN 18TH/19TH CENTURY Decorated in filigree with wires adorned with scrolling ornaments, a wan symbol and a pearl with a central ruyi-head set with a larger pearl, 14.5cm, 11g. Provenance: Dr Johan Carl Kempe (1884-1967), Sotheby's Hong Kong, 11th April 2008, lot 2301. Exhibited: Chinese Gold and Silver in the Carl Kempe Collection, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC, 1954-55, no.65.
