λ A Victorian walnut games compendium, with brass strapwork mounts and pietra dura cabochons, the hinged lid with a monogram 'CAH', the satin birch veneered interior with a folding macassar ebony and ivory games board for backgammon and chess inset into the lid, above ivory and brass mounted bezique and cribbage boards, with an ivory chess set, draughts and whist markers, with dice and markers, with a base drawer activated by a button mechanism, fitted with dominoes, playing cards, shakers, dice and counters, with side carrying handles, 20.4cm high, 37cm wide, 25.7cm deep.

Provenance: Given to the vendor's great grandfather, Charles Howard, of the Manor House, Shepperton, in lieu of a gambling debt by his neighbours the Beale brothers.
