A rare and unusual sewing compendium, in the form of an egg in an egg cup, the cover lacquered cream and hinged with a push button catch, revealling a gilt interior with a needle case, holes to take pins, a lift-out triple bobbin and a thimble, the foot hinged, revealling a vinaigrette with a hinged circular grille, initialled "A" by H.W. Dee, London 1875 (thimble unmarked), retailer's mark of "G. Giuliano", 3.3in (8.4cm) high.
