A rare early Victorian "thumbhole" snuff box with two hinged covers; one with an engraved Baron's coronet; the other with crest, the base inscribed "This snuff box made after the fashion of that used by the late SIR EDWARD LITTLETON BARt. was presented to JNo. CORSER Esq. by his friend Lord Hatherton 1842", gilt interiors, maker's mark overstriking that of another, (T.G.GD?) London 1841, 3.8in (9.7cm) long, 2.5oz.
