A mid 19th century French parcel gilt novelty snuff box, in the form of a double-barrelled holster pistol decorated with gilt ribbon work and shaped panels of 'white' engine turning, the hinged cover surmounted by twin hammers, inscribed "August Ludwig Liegil", maker's mark "AE", Paris c.1860 (post 1838 marks), 4.3in (11cm) long, 2.25oz.
