Mark Yuan-Richards

Mark Yuan-Richards joined Woolley & Wallis in January 2000 after graduating from Leicester University where he read History of Art and Italian and spent a year in Rome on an Erasmus scholarship. Mark speaks Italian and some Chinese and uses his language skills on a daily basis at work. After graduation Mark spent some time at the Tate Gallery and working for David Lay Auctions in Cornwall. After cutting his teeth running the General Sales at Woolley & Wallis he initially worked with John Axford in the Ceramics Department and then joined the Furniture department in 2002. Mark has considerable experience as a General Valuer with a wide knowledge of the Decorative Arts and has carried out numerous valuations for Probate, Insurance and Family Division. He has conducted over hundred auctions and has played an integral role in some of our biggest House and Collection sales including: Ashley Manor House sale (which fetched over £1.4million) in 2004, The Nolte Collection and Orchard House Sale, both in 2007 and more recently he has organised the disposal of some important collections, including:  the Sir Jeremy Lever Collection Parts 1 and 2 which grossed over £500,000 and the collection of the late Geoffrey Harley and the Exbury House sale in 2022.  Mark is a member of the Furniture History Society and the Regional Furniture Society. He lives in Salisbury with his wife Freya and their three children. He is an avid golfer and is a member of the Fine Art Golf Society. He also enjoys playing bridge, reading and sports.
