Following strong international viewing the October sale
demonstrated continuing strength in the jewellery market. Again,
natural pearls sold particularly well with lots 1982, a single row,
lot 1987,a two row and lot 1989 a four row (below) selling for
£56,000, £80,000 and £115,000 respectively.
Potential buyers were not deterred by the abrasion to lot 1985,
a 3.54ct Kashmir sapphire (below). Its beauty and rarity encouraged
bidding to £56,000.
