A batik painting of two female fruit sellers with two small children, mounted in a large box frame, together with a letter from the artist to the owner's wife referring to her commissioning this particular painting, dated 1971 and two leaflets from Yahong Gallery displaying Teng's works, 71.7cm x 56.8cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Captain R. Messer RAOC.

Chuah Thean Teng is celebrated as Malaysia's most famous batik artist, known for transforming the traditional folk craft of batik painting into a fine art form. The Yahong Gallery still exhibits paintings by Teng and his two artist sons.
