A Chinese famille rose chicken bowl six character Qianlong seal mark and probably of the period, finely painted to the exterior with a young boy and a cockerel with blue rockwork and peony, the reverse with a hen and her chicks below a poetic inscription, together with a four-legged hardwood stand, 8.1cm dia. (2)

Provenance: Lt Col John Grenville Fortescue (1896-1969), of Dropmore, Buckinghamshire and Boconnoc, Cornwall, and thence by descent.
