A large Chinese soapstone model of the dragon luohan 19th century, sitting holding a pearl in his left hand, and with a dragon emerging from a bowl to his right, his robes engraved with cloud scrolls, the base carved with a poem, including an inscription for the Qianlong reign, raised on an elaborate hardwood stand, 16cm. (2)

Provenance: Lt Col John Grenville Fortescue (1896-1969), of Dropmore, Buckinghamshire and Boconnoc, Cornwall, and thence by descent.
