THREE JAPANESE ARITA IMARI VASES AND COVERS FROM A GARNITURE

C.1700

The baluster bodies decorated in underglaze blue, iron red, green and black enamels, with four mirroring panels containing cranes and shishi between borders of stylised flowers, the shoulder with reishi-shaped panels containing phoenix, prunus and bamboo, the cover with a shishi with a temari ball on a rocky outcrop, 63cm max. (6)

Provenance: Warrens House, Bramshaw, the New Forest.
