A late 19th century French cast iron and 'Rouen' enamelled planter by E. Paris & Cie., decorated in blue and white with floral arabesques, of cylindrical form with a flared rim, with lion's mask handles and on four paw feet, signed to the rim 'E. PARIS & CIE 47, Rue De Paradis Poissonnière (Paris)', 61.6cm high, 60cm wide.

The firm of Charles-Emile Paris was founded in c. 1827 and specialised in the manufacture of glass, mosaic and enamel products. They became well known for making stylish enamelled cast iron urns / cache pots imitating the blue and white Rouen faïence ware.
