A small wine glass c.1770

A small wine glass c.1770, possibly of privateering interest, engraved with a ship at sail, titled 'Of The Prince of Wales, Captain Sands', raised on a faceted stem and cut foot, 15cm.

Catalogue note: A small diamond point amendment of ss above the word 'Prince' indicates that the engraver made a mistake and Captain Sands was captain of the Princess of Wales. Indeed, the Lloyds register of 1747 shows Captain Sands registered as Master of a merchant ship called the Princess of Wales, trading between the Thames and Portugal.
