A Dutch green glass bottle

A Dutch green glass bottle, painted with a portrait of Maarten Harpertszoon Tromp, within a foliate border, the bottle 18th century, the decoration probably later, 21cm. Cf. Maarten Tromp was Lieutenant-Admiral of the Dutch navy and commanded the United Provinces to victory against the Spanish in the 1639 Battle of the Downs. He was killed in action in 1653 during the First Anglo-Dutch war.
