An unusual creamware 'Step' or 'Twyford' Toby jug c.1780
An unusual creamware 'Step' or 'Twyford' Toby jug c.1780, the foamy head of his ale escaping down one side of his jug, his long clay pipe resting against his chin, his mouth slightly agape to reveal a missing front tooth, enamelled in washes of green and blue, the slightly canted base in manganese brown, some faults, 24cm.
