An 18th century French chocolate pot, of plain pear form on three legs, with a turned wooden handle, the hinged cover with a knop finial and a small swivel cover (for insertion of molinet), maker's mark only struck four times, by François-Isaac Balduc, Sens (generalte de Paris), 1740-50, 8in (20.4cm) high, 23oz.
