A rare Chinese Yixing Chairman Mao teapot and cover 20th century, believed to be by Gu Jingzhou (1915-1996), one side moulded with a profile portrait of Chairman Mao against a radiating sun, inscribed 'Don't forget the class struggle' in Chinese script and dated 1973, Gu Jingzhou seal mark to the base, Jingzhou mark to the cover, 16cm. (2) In 1988 Gu Jingzhou was appointed a National Art Master of China; the highest honour for a Zisha master, and the first to receive this honour. Provenance: from the collection of Peter and Susan Wain.
