A good Chinese stained ivory figure of a magistrate, seated wearing flowing robes, his left hand resting on his knee, his right holding his belt, raised on a low plinth, late Ming / early Qing dynasty, 16.8cm. Together with a wood stand. (2) Paper label for John Sparks Ltd., 128 Mount Street, where it was purchased for 32 guineas. Provenance: Sackville, 5th Earl of Yarborough. Cf.
