A joined oak tester bed, the panelled headboard with carved strapwork, interlocking scrolls and diamond panels, inscribed '16' '29' and initials 'B over G. A', with a panelled canopy and baluster turned and block posts, formerly strung, 17th century and later, 71.5in (181.6cm) h, 56.5in (143.3cm) w, 78.25in (199.2cm) d. Provenance: The Property of C. V. Godwin Esq, Ring Cottage, Bethersden, Kent. House sale by Butler, Hatch and Waterman, Wednesday 1st March 1979, lot 549, bought by the present owner.
