the brass eight day movement with four knopped pillars, anchor escapement and striking on a bell, on a 13 inch painted dial, the chapter ring with Arabic numerals surrounding a centre with chinoiserie actors on a stage, a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, inside shell painted spandrels and beneath an arch with a gilt building in a landscape and beneath a foliate border, the case with an arched door and turned and gilt columns on a trunk with a rectangular door with chinoiserie scenes in low relief and a circular lenticle and a pedestal base, the whole with gilt chinoiserie decoration on a faux tortoiseshell ground, with two weights and a pendulum
