Max Fisher graduated from Kingston University in 2010, beginning his career at Mallams as a Fine Art Valuer. He went on to spend fifteen years at the firm, working in their Oxford and Cheltenham salerooms and rising to become Head of Design in 2018.
Max has interests in all areas of 20th Century design, with a particular interest in studio ceramics and has set numerous auction records for modern potters including Jennifer Lee (b.1956) and Michael Cardew (1901-1983). He also specialises in Cotswold School works and Arts & Crafts, setting an auction record for Ernest Gimson (1864-1919) with the sale of a rare pair of steel firedogs in 2019.
Max has contributed to Ceramic Review magazine and Antique Collecting magazine, among others. Art critic, writer and curator, David Whiting, who has specialised in contemporary studio craft, including ceramics, said;
