Description

A George II cake basket, of shaped oval outline with a cast swing handle, a cast border and four large cast scroll feet each decorated with a gentleman's mask, the sides fret-pierced with scrollwork, assorted shapes and crosslets, the base with scratchweight "71..13", by John Huge Le Sage, London 1744, 14.5in (37cm) wide, 71oz. Bearing: Engraved on the handle with the Royal Arms Garter & Crown and inscribed on the base "F & C", "(I)" "1", below a Baron's coronet.
