Cape Silver: an early 19th century South Aftrica snuff box with pricked borders, and a 'raised' thumb piece, the cover inscribed "K. Betsch", maker's mark only [thrice], by Daniel Beets 1810 - 1825, 2.8in (7.2cm) long, 2oz Literature Daniel Beets was the illegitimate sone of Balthus Wilhelm Beets of Neubrandenburg and Angana. He was a silversmith in Rooze Street from 1812 - 1814 and then again from 1820 - 1828 and had a spell in Kasteel Street from 1814 - 1820. He married Anna Maria Petronella Bedeker on 6 April 1794 (Welz, S: Cape Silver and Silversmiths)
