Description

An early Charles II tentatively ascribed apostle spoon, the gilt figure with a sacred dove nimbus, the back of the bowl scratched "I P" and pricked "1662" over "M S" over "E B", struck one in the bowl and twice on the back of the stem with a winged angel mask, possibly Newport, South Wales circa 1662, 7.4in (18.8cm) 1.5oz *For the maker's mark see Jacksons Revised p. 513
