'General Charles Gordon - Gordon of Khartoum' (1833-1885) an Art Union of London terracotta bust cast from a model by R Bremner Stocks, 1885 signed, dated and inscribed Art Union of London to the reverse 39cm. high This terracotta bust was probably produced by Doulton Lambeth, with a couple of other examples known bearing both the Art Union and Doulton marks. Doulton was one of the key manufacturers associated with the Art Union of London, set up in 1835 to popularise the arts with the public.
