A scrimshaw decorated whale's tooth, inscribed 'FIJI OCTOBER 10TH' above the Fiji coat of arms and flanked by the dates '1874 and 1924', 9.75in (25cm) l.¦The cession of Fiji to the United Kingdom was signed on October 10th 1874. The above decoration commemorates the first 50 years.¦The Coat of arms of Fiji was granted by Royal Letters Patent on 4 July 1908.
