Lord Nelson. An early 19th century miniature painting depicting a naval officer (probably Admiral Villeneuve) kneeling before Neptune and pointing to ships. Surrounded with the words 'Monsieur Invoking Neptune to give up his Trident to Nelson' within laurel border.¦Probably an allegorical scene of surrender by the French and Spanish fleets to Lord Nelson at Trafalgar. In oval gilt metal pendant with platted hair to the reverse glazed locket compartment.¦The back section detached. 4cm high.
