Description
An extremely rare and interesting late 17th century French "chinoiserie" scent flask , of shaped oval outline with a domed oval foot and a key shaped stopper and a part matt, part polished ground each side decorated with an oval vignette one depicting a sage-like figure looking up at birds and prunus; the other a lady within a small gazebo, draping her robes over side rail, struck once on the foot with the townmark for Angers c., 2.5in (6.3cm) high, 0.75oz.
