A Rare George II ascribed West Country Hanovarian basting spoon, of good gauge with a fingle drop, scratched with the initials 'SD' over 'HM' over 'E' and a later set of script initials on the back of the terminal, makers mark only, struck twice, by Thomas Peard, Buddock, near Penryn c.1740, 12.5in (38.5cm) long, 4.5oz. * See Kent, T.A: 'West Country Spoons and their Makers', pp119 for an illustration of this makers mark (as seen on a fine basting spoon and a account of this maker.
