Anglo-Saxon, Kings of Kent, Cuthred (798-807), Silver Penny, Canterbury mint, moneyer Werheard, struck circa 800-805, small cross pattée, pellets in angles, +CVÐRED REX, rev double-tribrach with pellet stops and at top of each limb and in outer angles, SE BE RH, 1.3gms (Blunt, Lyon, Stewart, BNJ XXXII [1963], group I (ii), variety; N 208/2, var; S 876). Edge chipped (from 10 to 2 o'clock, otherwise very fine or nearly so and deeply toned.
