Description
A small Tibetan bronze figure of Dakini Vajravarahi, dancing on a lotus throne, 16th / 17th century, 10cm.

Dakini is a Sanskrit word that literally means 'sky dancer', 'she who traverses the sky' or 'she who moves in space'. In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Dakinis are a class of beings who are the embodiment of the divine and feminine form so, in many ways, all women are Dakinis; they are female embodiments of knowledge and magical powers.
