Description
Wordsworth (William). Two autograph transcripts of the last lines from 'Intimations of Immortality' and 'Composed upon Westminster Bridge', both signed 'Wm Wordsworth', 75 x 205mm. and 113 x 128mm., on grey paper. (2)
The first of these transcripts is a variant of the published version reading: 'Thoughts that lie too deep for tears'. In the poem, 'Intimations', of which it is the last line of the eleven stanzas, the published version reads: 'Thoughts that do often lie to deep for tears'. The poem was composed between 1802 and 1804. The second: 'And all that mighty heart is lying still' is the last line of 'Composed upon Westminster Bridge', again written in 1802.
