Description

A Silver-gilt Medal or "So-Called" Pattern Halfcrown of Charles I, c. 1640, by Thomas Rawlins, armoured bust left, his hair curled over a lace collar. Reverse (in imitation of engraving), the Royal arms in garnished shield, within Garter and between supporters, 3.5cm (Medallic Illustrations I, 373/267), set in an ornate filigree mount suspending a pearl. The medal with signs of previous mounting.
