Ship-building interest: a Sunderland pearlware jug, decorated with a ship in dry dock and the inscription "May Carpenters flourish and our Trade Increase and Victory bring a Lasting Peace", the reverse with a shipping rhyme and "Phillips & Co, Sunderland Pottery", c.1815, some wear to the glaze, 20.5cm.
