Description
Naval interest: a pearlware mug, applied with portrait figures of Admiral Lord George Brydges Rodney and Admiral Sir Samuel Hood either side of a ship in full sail titled 'Ville de Paris', on a black ground between ribbed borders, c.1782, some rim chips and cracks, 9.7cm.
The Ville de Paris was the flagship of a fleet of eight ships captured by Rodney and Hood at the Battle of Saintes in 1782.
