The Gehagan Society, a Georgian engraved silver member's medal, GEHAGAN SOCIETY FOUNDED BY PLYCARPUS ANNO DOMINI 135, ROBT JOHNSON MOST SUBLIME LL 1804, the reverse with flowering sunflower, "We esteem most what is most concealed", London Hallmark 1803, maker P, A and W Bateman, 45mm, pierced and with suspension ring. £300-400 The origins of the Society are not known. St. Polycarpus (b. AD 69), was martyred in AD 155 (not 135) and he is know for his Epistle to the Philippians.
