circular form, gadroon border, engraved with a crest and coronet, diameter 25cm, approx. weight 128oz. (6)

The coronet and crest is that of the 1st Marquess Downshire, an Irish title created in 1789 for the Statesman William Hill, (1718-93), PC, Earl of Hillsborough, sometime President of the Board of Trade and Plantations, Secretary of State for the Colonies and for the Southern Department.
