A rare, early Martin Brothers grotesque spoonwarmer/inkwell by Robert Wallace Martin modelled partially with hoofs and human hands, its broad smile showing sharp teeth, the curled tail forming a handle to lidded compartment, glazed brown incised marks R W Martin Southall 2-1878 to cover and R W Martin Southall to base 18cm. wide
