Description

A pair of wax portrait reliefs by Richard Cockle Lucas, one signed, inscribed and dated; 'Mrs Roberts, modeled (sic) at July 17th 1853', 7.25 x 5.25in (18.4 x 13.3cm), the other inscribed 'S. Roberts Esq, 1853', and a third of a gentleman, feintly inscribed, in moulded wood and floral composite frames. (3) Richard Cockle Lucas (1800-1883) was born in Salisbury and died in Chilworth, Hampshire. Apprenticed at the age of 12 to an uncle who was a cutler, he later attended the Royal Academy where he won several medals.
