Description
An unusual engraved goblet, inscribed 'William Jobling Gibbeted at Jarrow Aug 3rd 1832', 9.7cm.
William Jobling was one of the last men to be gibbeted in England before the practice was outlawed in 1834. He was hanged for the murder of Nicholas Fairles, a collier and local magistrate.
