A fine Japanese gold lacquer box and cover, formed as a boat piled high with bales of rice and vases of prunus and bamboo and with a crane in flight before the sail, a turtle emerges from the waves beneath the bow, the sides of the box decorated with undulating waves, Meiji 1868-1912, 16cm. (2)
