Description

A massive Japanese ivory temple, 19th century. The exterior deeply carved with panels of figures, including Buddha beneath a pine tree, the reverse with numerous immortals and animals, the octagonal top carved with lotus, dragons and further figures, the central section with doors opening to reveal a standing Boddhisattva with four attendants before a large incense burner, all raised on a elaborately carved wood stand, damages and losses, 82cm including the stand. Paper label inscribed Kuhn & Komor.
