Description

A pair of Chinese celadon anhua decorated dishes, the centres incised with chrysanthemum within borders of stylized leaves, each with an underglaze blue mark reading Shuangzhao Lou Zhi (Made for the double shrine tower), c.1931-35, 15cm. (2) The hall mark Shuangzhao lou belonged to the prominent republican figure Wang Zhaoming (1883-1944). Wang, zi Jixin, hao Jingwei was born in Guangzhou, Guandong but his ancestors were originally from Shanyin, Zhejiang. Wang studied in Japan where he joined the Tongminhui and was actively involved in the 1911 revolution in the overthrown of the Qing regime.
