Sir Henry Irving interest, an unmarked gold Asprey sliding pencil holder, marked Asprey, fluted cylindrical form, inscribed ' Walter Lacy from Henry Irving 4 May 1889', length 8.3cm. Walter Lacy (1809-1898) was a member of Irving's Company. It is reasonable to conclude that this pencil was an 80th Birthday gift. This lot is sold with a collection of associated material including 1. A contemporary photograph of Irving by The London Sterescope and Photographic Company. 2. An image of Walter Lacy. 3.A letter written by Irving dated 19th June 1884 from 15A Grafton Street. He lived above Asprey's premises. 4. A cheque in favour of Henry Irving for one Guinea, endorsed by him. 5. A collection of six theatre programmes from 1882 to 1898 for plays staring Irving. Walter Lacy appears in four of them. 6. A programme for performances by Irving and Ellen Terry at the Theatre Royal, Sandringham, 26th April 1889, before H.M Queen Victoria. 7. A silvered metal pendant with images of Irving as Shylock and Ellen Terry as Beatrice. 8. a copy of Henry Irving by Mortimer Menpes, Published by Adam and Charles Black, 1906, dedicated to Ellen Terry,
