A George II silver etui case, unmarked circa 1757, tapering oval form, the base shagreen covered, the interior with fitted sections for implements, the interior of the cover inscribed,' 1757 Peter Gaussen, London', length 10cm. ** Peter Gaussen was from a strong and wealthy merchant and banking family, and he was a director of The Bank of England, and he went on to become Governor 1777-79.
