Description

A Breton chestnut cupboard, converted from a 'lit clos', with allover brass studs, the detachable cornice above a pierced spindle frieze and with relief carved decoration of birds, panels of urns issuing flowers and two cavaliers on horseback, dated '1843', above a panelled base, on a later stand, 19th century elements but adapted, together with a long stool for use entering the 'lit clos', 81in (205.4cm) h, 79.5in (201.8cm) w, 14.5in (36.8cm) d. (2) Provenance: Manoir de Tonnecourt, Lisieux, Normandy.
