Description
Waterloo Medal, 1815 (Ewan MacDonald. 1st Bat. 92nd Highlanders.), old replacement silver clip, original (?) steel ring. Very fine.
The 92nd, or more famously, the Gordon Highlanders made the charge at La Haye Sainte with the Scots Greys, when "a great cry went up "Scotland for Ever," and the Gordon Highlanders seized hold of the stirrups of the Scots Greys as they gave back the cry; and all together the whole thundering mass of men and horses, sabres, bayonets and muskets were hurled into the midst of the French lines". BBM records that of a Unit strength of 588, 441 were wounded or killed.
