Description
Two similar George III provincial silver salt cellars,
by Hampston and Prince, York 1796, one lacking date letter,
oval form, gilded bowls, reeded borders, on raised oval bases, length 10cm and 9.6cm, approx. weight 4oz. (2)
For the marks see Jacksons, Ian Pickford Edition, Antique Collector's Club, 2002, page 465, where it mentions that between 1793-1808 the lion passant is sometimes found facing right.
